Aspect of a seed observed with the objective of 10x. We can distinguish the external covers and, below, the nucellus surrounding by remains of endosperm. The embryo occupies almost completely the interior of the seed and contains two large cotyledons. The plumule is located at the beginning of the cotyledons (where is placed the apical meristem) and continues with the hypocotyl, finishing in the radicular apex. Along the hypocotyl we can notice the central cylinder of the future caulinar axis. We can also see the basal cell of the suspender and the antipodals cells, remains of previous development stages. Details of the seed are offered at higher magnification in other microphotographies (zones framed in red and blue)
