Aspect of the epidermis and the cortex observed with the
objective of 40x. We can distinguish externally the
epidermis,
formed by a layer of cells, on which appears a dark thick layer
of suberin. Below it is located the
exodermis,
whose cells show red-stained (due to safranin) lignified walls.
More internally are placed the cells of the
cortical parenchyma
(yellow),
showing cellulose walls stained with Alcian blue
