Cross-section of part of the foliar limb stained with Alcian blue-safranin
and observed with the objective of 40x. The
epidermis
of most leaves shows dorsoventral anatomy: the upper (adaxial) and lower
(abaxial) surfaces. We can observe both surfaces, as well as the
mesophyll (constituted by
parenchyma)
and one of the
vascular bundles
showing
sclerenchyma fibers
in the superior and inferior part. We can also distinguish groups of
large
bulliform cells
in the lower epidermis. The zone of the vascular bundle can be observed
at higher magnification in other microphotography (zone framed in red)
