Aspect of the ovarian cortex observed with the objective of 10x. We can see the epithelium (more externally located) and the underlying conjunctive-type thin tunica albuginea. Under the tunica albuginea appear numerous primordial follicles and, more internally, there are other follicles at different development stages (primary and secondary [yellow] follicles). In the secondary follicles, we can observe the oocyte surrounded by the follicular antrum, as well as cells of the granular layer and the theca (more externally located).
